A perfect season
'Unbeatable' is the tag which team wants to have & Maharashtra Maestros have achieved exactly that in this season. 9 home & 9 away matches, Guys made Maestros Park a real fortress which nobody could conquer. On the road, the team was exceptional. They thrashed everyone who came along the way to get their hands on the coveted trophy for the third time. The team advances to division 5 for the time which is most exciting.
The team desperately needed this after finishing second in previous two seasons. There were changes made in the management level, some experienced players were axed, lots of new talent was nurtured & the results are to be seen. No doubt the fans would be thrilled to have witnessed such a performance from their beloved team.
Both departments fired all cylinders as batsmen put mountains of runs when they batted first. There were 17 all-outs by the bowling unit showing the might this attack possesses with average opponent score being less than 80 throughout the season.
Winning the Frenemies cup was an icing on the cake. The team would look to keep doing the same in the upcoming season.
Here is the look at the architects of this brilliant performance in this season.
Supuni Buddhika: 54 wickets in the season speaks for the workload this guy has put in. He was there whenever team required early breakthroughs. Great line-length and sheer pace makes him the leader of a quality pace attack. Whats more...he gets to play on a green Maestros park. No wonder he is the most valuable asset in the side.
Nagander Jain: Bought midway through the season for a whopping 61M. He did payback by playing 11 matches and pricing out 37 wickets with economy less than 5 & a wicket every 5.5 deliveries. He was the perfect foil for the Maestros pace attack who troubled the opponents with his flight, guile & great variations in the middle overs.
Lauren Bryan: Young man who was acquired by the team has finally proved his worth by scoring 773 runs & becoming the highest run-getter of the season. Everyone had raised questions on his temperament when he failed to perform in last two seasons. Management continued to back him & this was a season where he has finally silenced his critics with some scintillating knocks. Crutchley can breathe a sigh of relief as he is not the only man in the side when it comes to batting now.
The team has evolved from strength to strength with some quality buys in the auction & this could be one of the units to look for in the upcoming season.
